Actively Seeking a Contract Lobbyist
The Association of Washington Healthcare Plans (AWHP) is seeking a contract lobbyist to serve as the legislative liaison for the association and its members. Candidate must have at least five years of lobbying experience, or related government relations work, public speaking experience, and a flexible schedule. AWHP is proud to announce the appointment of Christopher Bandoli as its new Executive Director to lead our critical work, effective January 2020.
Chris is an experienced government relations professional with more than a decade of experience in advocacy, policy analysis and political strategy. He has an intimate knowledge of the legislative process, a track record of successful engagement with Washington state lawmakers, and familiarity with legislators, legislative and agency staff, and the broader legislative advocacy community.
Chris has led government affairs teams at multiple prominent organizations including Regence BlueShield and the Washington State Hospital Association, where he most recently served as a Senior Vice President. In his new role, Chris will lead the association in its mission of ensuring affordable health care coverage for all Washingtonians through a competitive marketplace that preserves consumer choice and quality care, builds on the stability and success of existing coverage programs, and supports innovation.
Chris is a seasoned leader who is deeply committed to the success of Washington’s insurance market and its ability to deliver affordable coverage. We’re excited to see him take on this role with his extensive knowledge and experience.
Chris received a master’s degree in political management from The George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Indiana University.
Terri joined AWHP in November of 2020 and has over twelve years’ experience in public policy research, development and advocacy. She is experienced in interpreting complex legislation and policy for various constituencies including Association membership, legislators and the general public. Her experience also includes drafting legislation, testifying before legislative committees, one-on-one advocacy with legislators and negotiating through differences on behalf of legislators.
Terri served as Mason County Commissioner from 2012-2018. In that role, she represented Mason County on their ACH, Cascade Pacific Action Alliance. She also served on the Thurston Mason Behavioral Health Organization, overseeing implementation of Medicaid Transformation as it pertained to behavioral health. She was instrumental in expanding behavioral health services in Mason County including a new Evaluation & Treatment Center, Jail Mental Health Services and a Crisis Outreach Team. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from The Evergreen State University.
Kelly joined AWHP in 2018 with over a decade of work in allied health care services. As a former business owner and home care agency administrator, Kelly ensures the association moves forward successfully by providing behind the scenes operational support to membership, vendors and staff. Raised in Woodinville, Kelly moved to Texas where she received her bachelor's degree from Texas State University. She relocated to Olympia in 2006 to start up her home care franchise, selling it in 2017. Kelly is married and enjoys spending time with her family outdoors, traveling the world and biking with her husband and daughter.
